WhatsTheWeb helps people analyze public website intelligence data. We do not sell personal information, and most of the product's core output is based on public or third-party website data rather than private user content.

We collect a limited set of information to operate the website, support optional accounts, measure product usage, and power extension features such as cached domain analysis and related-domain lookups.

When you browse the marketing site, we may receive analytics signals such as page views, device or browser metadata, approximate location, referral source, and interaction events through Google Analytics.

When you create or use an account, we store account and session data needed for authentication, including your name, email address, profile image when provided, session token metadata, IP address, and user agent associated with the session.

When the extension requests website intelligence data, we process the domain being analyzed and may store public website metadata such as title, description, traffic estimates, AdSense publisher IDs, WHOIS-derived dates, and other aggregated website attributes.

The extension also keeps a local cache in browser storage for recent domain lookups so repeated requests can load faster.

We use analytics data to understand which pages are useful, improve site performance, and prioritize product work.

We use account and session data to sign users in, keep sessions secure, and support features that depend on authentication.

We use submitted domain data to return website insights, persist public website records, and power product features such as rankings, saved lists, and related-domain discovery.

WhatsTheWeb currently relies on third-party providers to operate parts of the service, including Google for analytics and, in production, Google sign-in.

The extension and backend may request public website intelligence from sources such as Similarweb and WHOIS services in order to generate traffic and domain insights.

These providers handle data under their own privacy terms when requests are sent to them.

Account records, authentication sessions, and saved lists are stored until they are no longer needed to provide the service or are removed through product or operational processes.

Public website intelligence records may be retained to improve response times, maintain rankings or historical coverage, and support related lookup features.

Extension-side cache entries are stored locally in the browser and currently expire automatically after about 24 hours.

You can limit analytics collection with browser settings, privacy tools, or content blockers that restrict Google Analytics.

You can stop extension-side data storage by removing the extension or clearing browser extension storage.

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect account data and service infrastructure, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
